Hi, I'm Dana Snook, RDN, LDN.

I am an anti-diet, fat positive, Health at Every Size ® (HAES) dietitian who helps clients feed themselves and their children in a less stressful way so everyone can develop a healthier relationship with food and body.

I serve three different clients – adolescents and adults with eating disorders, those wanting to reject diet culture and families of children struggling with body image and feeding concerns.

Lets Get to Know Each Other!

I have been a dietitian for 20 years and have worked with both pediatrics and adults throughout my entire career. This allows me to see things from a unique perspective. I can understand how a person’s relationship with food and body is impacted by how they were raised with food and body. Having a deeper understanding of how family systems affect your thoughts about food and body can give a deeper understanding to truly healing.

A good relationship with food and body requires TRUST (non-restrictive approach) instead of CONTROL (restrictive approach). This involves not only addressing what you eat, but also how you think and feel about food and your body.

My practice is fat positive and shame-free. This means I am neutral about what you eat and will never pathologize your body. I know how important access to treatment is for those in marginalized bodies/identities and I work hard to provide a safe environment.

I am a white, cis-gendered, neurodiverse, disabled, small fat dietitian with financial privilege (although it wasn’t always this way). While I hold many privileges I am an active learner and I am continuously learning/unlearning from those with marginalized identities.

Here's my experience & approach-

I have been a registered dietitian nutritionist (RDN), licensed dietitian-nutritionist and certified intrinsic coach (CIC) for the last 20 years. I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Dietetics from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and completed a community based internship in Pittsburgh at Adagio Health.

I have worked in a variety of settings including clinical work in hospitals and outpatient settings with adults, pediatrics and in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). I have worked in the community setting both at Women Infants and Children (WIC) and at Joint Base McGuire, Dix, Lakehurst with military personnel.

Prior to entering the eating disorder field, I held the Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist for 5 years and enjoys working with those dealing with diabetes and polycystic ovarian syndrome. I have spent the last 10 years in private practice providing nutritional therapy to those struggling with eating disorders, disordered eating, body image concerns and child feeding concerns. I identify as a Health at Every Size ® and fat-positive dietitian providing weight-inclusive care. I have completed advanced training with renowned feeding therapist Ellyn Satter and the Division of Responsibility of Feeding and Eating Competence Model. I have also trained to be an Intuitive Eating Counselor.

I have provided workshops on "Effective Nutrition Education in Schools," for the New Jersey Education Association (NJEA) and New Jersey Association of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (NJAHPERD). In addition, she provides training/consultations to group organizations working to provide  fat positive environments in work places, hospital settings, schools, daycares and many more.

I have learned that the most important thing in eating disorder care is clinical supervision. Without supervision, I wouldn’t be the provider who I am today. I now provide clinical supervision/consultations to other providers who want to grow as an eating disorder provider. After struggling to wrap her head around starting a private practice for more than 15 years, I have successfully started and runs an insurance based group private practice since 2019. I know how hard it can be to get the confidence to start and provides business coaching for those wanting to start up your business, add employees, take insurance, learn how to have a good work life balance and much more.
